ご 趣味は 何ですか
The dictionary form of the verb, expressing ability with できます, and talking about hobbies.
書きます→書く ／ 食べます→食べる ／ します→する ／ 来ます→来る
This is the form verbs appear in in dictionaries. Group I: the -i syllable becomes -u (書きます → 書く, 飲みます → 飲む). Group II: add る (食べる). Group III: する and 来る.
Examples
泳ぎます → 泳ぐ ／ 待ちます → 待つ
To swim, to wait (in dictionary form).
N が できます ／ V (dict.) こと が できます
できます expresses ability or possibility. The object can be a noun (日本語が できます) or a verb nominalised with こと: 漢字を 読む ことが できます.
Examples
ミラーさんは 日本語が 話せますか。… 日本語を 話すことができます。
Mr. Miller can speak Japanese.
カードで 払うことができます。
You can pay by card.
趣味は N ／ V (dict.) こと です
To give your hobby you can use a noun (趣味は 音楽です) or a verb with こと, which is more precise: 趣味は 音楽を 聞く ことです.
Examples
私の 趣味は 写真を 撮ることです。
My hobby is taking photos.
V (dict.) まえに、V2 ／ N の まえに ／ length of time まえに
まえに means "before": 寝る まえに 本を 読みます (I read before going to sleep), 食事の まえに (before the meal), 1 年 まえに (a year ago).
Examples
日本へ 来るまえに、 日本語を 勉強しました。
I studied Japanese before coming to Japan.
なかなか + negative
With a negative verb, なかなか says something doesn't happen as easily as you'd like: なかなか 日本人に 会えません.
Examples
日本では、なかなか 馬を 見ることができません。
In Japan you don't often get to see horses.
ぜひ + wish/invitation
ぜひ strengthens wishes and invitations: ぜひ 遊びに 来てください (do come and visit us).

ぜひ 北海道へ 行きたいです。
I really want to go to Hokkaido.
